If you knew how many times I've walked, biked, never mind driven-- it takes a visitor to see what we pass everyday. Funny you should mention a plaque- last night I was dropping a young lady at 399 Columbus who mentioned her building was beside the one with the plaque denoting Martin Luther King's former residence (during his colllege days I suppose). This got me off on the content of his speeches from the last eighteen months of his life, speeches that portrayed racial issues as no more than one more symptom among many, speeches our mainstream press never invoke on MLK day, and speeches she'd never heard. She promised me she'd listen to his final speech to the Memphis sanitation workers. Having the moment to while away conversation on a quiet night with an attractive young lady, I think plaques are pretty good.hackneyed sojournhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14116604896689646600noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34906440.post-6789015033376532282009-12-23T18:41:11.749-08:002009-12-23T18:41:11.749-08:00Sad that taxi rest rooms are so bad world wide.

Banks? Never mind the headlines over TARP or Treasury, our Federal Reserve, as of this April, determined to print $3.8 trillion for the financial services industry. Where that figure may be now, up or down, I have no idea. There is no media coverage-- c'mon kids, let's get worked up over TARP! The $3.8 trillion could finance national health insurance in the US for fourty years, but I'm sure they know what they're doing. I may not have health coverage, but hey, those bankers always have the fare for me to drive them about.

Incidently, around 1990, Carlin had a short lived cable TV show where he played, of all things, a cabbie. It was good low key humor as opposed to comedy, and, as you'd expect, Carlin kept it real.hackneyed sojournhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14116604896689646600noreply@blogger.com
