There is some good news in the housing sector.
Visit the HUB and ask for advice with your property loans.
Banks have been treating the ordinary people very badly,
banks on the other side deserve a good kick in the backside.
They gave 110% loans to buy houses then they gave them loans to buy new cars as well.
Nothing was ever stress tested...How could anyone on an income ever pay back the money?
My dad threw a fit when I borrowed £600 to buy a car once.
How much did you borrow?
What was the interest rate 6% ?
So you are paying back X per month over 3 years...That works out at 40%
Go back down to the bank and tell them that they are wrong.
So that kind bank manager explained that £600 +£228 interest divided by 36 gives you X per month for 36 months.
No I said. From day one I don't owe you three years interest, then when I make a payment I don't owe the balance of £600. The interest should be on the balance and calculated monthly.
What will you do about it?
I'll phone Gay Byrne and write into the Anglo Celt.
Bingo! He said I'll give you a term loan.... A big difference.
Another big thing which is coming home to roost is the "Seniors Money" They gave granny a loan on the equity on her house, off she went on a cruise, she lived well and then the banks finished up owning the house...Compound interest is a tough one. Someone should have given her money on a written agreement that the family inherit the home on her death.
So if you can live within your means.

Then the Garda will deny your basic rights
But visit the Hub and they will explain your rights to you.
The freedom of information means that the bank must produce their figures on your loan.
One business man in Kerry was facing repossesion for a €30,000 outstanding on his loan
He got the banks figures under the freedom of information act and in court he pointed out to the judge how the banks had massaged his interest up and down through the term of the loan.
Fair play to the judge he calculated that the bank had swindled the man out of at least €30,000
So he awarded the man €90,000 in compensation
You and I have paid off the debts of the banks to the tune of billions.
No one went to jail for 40 years.
I leave you with this Limerick man in Canada from long ago.

A downhill slope
Lucy driving her first taxi
Did you say you wanted a TAP?
Tractor driving school? Why not
Well I am really on holiday now, getting my meter taken out. Then getting it put into the new car.
The car has to be wrapped in the new mytaxi company logo.
Then the guys from legal meteorology will inspect the work and pass me out with their blessing for work.
Its just a big paper chase, but it has to be done.
So I went into town to have my hair cut. 5 guys waiting there and only one mans barber working, so I decamped to Clearys bar on Aimiens St.
At the door of the pub I spotted a woman who had frozen in time!!!!!!!!!
Just standing there her two bags of shopping on the ground. One bag had spilled a bit,it was like in a movie frozen. Nothing was happening the video had stopped.
People passed by.
Then a woman came over and woke her up and helped her with her bags.
I said to a man in the door of the pub.
"If my dog was as disturbed as that woman is I would have it put down to ease its pain"
So folks its time for a little bit of education.
You think you have drugs? Wait until Crystal Meth comes.

To tip or say thank you
The new car park in Eindhoven which collapsed
The tractor driving school and why not
Prakis DIY store Taps ans more Taps
There is never a best time to do something that you have not planned for.
So we visited our brother in law in Einddhoven Holland.
I had not planned to change my car when the flights were booked a month ago.
Were you ever there?
Things work well.
Things work very well.
Much of the country is under sea level, they have dams and canals to hold the water.
The last time I was there Paris was flooded and everywhere in Holland showed no panic.
Go to Dublin port on Friday morning to see truck after truck come off the ferry's bringing flowers to Ireland.
Can't we even grow a few flowers?
The people in Holland are slimmer than the Irish and the youth are nearly all over 6ft.tall.
In Eindhoven airport they built a new multi story car car park and it collapsed.
Just as well it wasn't a dam.
In the scale of things things you never can tell.
You pick the quickest route by 20 mins and the customer says.
"That way was longer"
Though it was 20 minutes shorter.
If we could rewind the clock and have her sitting in static traffic how would she be then?.
When push comes to shove.
"Just put the €100 into my hand now and I will do my best"
I am just pissed off driving for losers.
That sounds hard.
But none of those punters would pay your speeding ticket,
They often get out at T2 and wait for 20c change.
Not all though, which is the catch.

€100,000,000
The original Smart car or Bubble car as it was then
Clontarf Rd where they put in a super cycle track in front of the bus shelter. The bikes could kill you.
Fire drill at Beaumount hospital
Outside the clinic at the 5 lamps, somewhere dry to sleep
On a Thursday taxis are needed to bring recipients to post offices to get payments. It used to be called "Dole money" as it was dispensed or doled out like in a soup kitchen. Last week it was a young couple living in a tent on Sandymount strand. This week it was her.
You pass junkies and homeless people every day in Dublins fair city, She had only one eye and for sure she had lived through hard times. She had a special needs child of her own and a niece who is quite badly handicapped. We saw the niece as we reached her destination. She said that her sister abandoned the child at birth and the child was being reared by the grandmother with no help from the state.
I told her about a junkie with a really bright kid of around 4 who I thought had done a runner, as I moved to drive away he came back out of the shop. "What d fuck are you at mate? Im not dishonest, I wouldn't rob you. I'm just sick".
Then he paid me with a €2tip
If that Euromillions prize of last night was mine I know where most of it would go.
Fr. McVerry and Sister Stan would smile.
Mytaxi sold us a new credit card reader, it works really well, swipes and tap and go etc.
I had a Polish girl in the taxi yesterday and she was about to pay by card and then suddenly she suspected that this was a fraud ! So she kept me waiting while she went into a shop, got cash and then was surprised when the bill was 60c more. As if a big company would produce dodgy equipment.
By the way I got a new cash card the other day and as you remember you have to go to a bank link to start it off and change the code. Well you have the option to allow the touch and go or not.
Why would anyone be foolish enough have the ability on their card to use it without a pin?
One guy with a good banking job woke up for work 2 hours late., As an intern i the bank they had gone out to celebrate the mid summer and at 3 AM they went to Coppers.
He didn't have his fone on charge and it was dead, so it didn't alarm.
Boys oh boys the smell of drink of him nearly had me drunk when we arrived in Ballsbridge.
I cannot imagine a Polish worker doing that.
The young guy he should learn over the next 10 years....I hope.
From today I am in the process of changing my car,
Meter out Meter in
Wrapper stripped off
New car wrapped
Then have the car passed out and rubber stamped.
2 weeks holiday??????????
Rickshaws have no such problems, no road tax, no insurance, no public liability insurance, no income tax..No worries.

Cowboys
A group of Harley fans on a tour with a super truck as backup
Part of the old family tree with most of the horse rustlers and chicken sealers included.
Thats me in the middle, surrounded by taxis!
The Yellow Pages I said, I got him from the yellow pages.
"That is the biggest comic book in the world he said,
what do you mean? I said
If you're looking for cowboys that book is full of them.
If you want anything done you ask around to find someone who had work done recently and you ask if they were happy, then you go with it.
Not the Yellow Pages.
There was a giant fire in London and the tower block had toxic flammable cladding on its exterior.
When it ignited the flames and fumes were sucked into the stairwell making escape futile.
The company who installed the cladding went out of business during its installation and went bankrupt. They never paid the £1/2 million for the materials.
He then re opened under a different company name and finished the job.
I am still working away and I will be changing my car in the coming weeks, then to do the big tax return and then I will put more time into that damn book.
A poor sick girl from Brazil got into my taxi today she was going to Blancerdstown, just starting her days work when she bought a bread roll with some strange filling in it.
Poor thing loosing a days pay and then she is having to pay for a taxi home.
Three times we had to stop before she spewed it all out.
I knocked €5 off the fair.
As she reached her house she told me that her landlord lived in the house with them and he often says that his house was quiet and peaceful before they came now every day is full of laughter and noise with people coming and going every day.
Like winter compared to a wonderful summers day.
What a wonderful happy optimistic girl.

Like it and ban the rickshaw..
In this collision the taxi driver will never be paid.
If anyone was injured they would get nothing as well.

Another day
A Ghost bike, when a cyclist is killed a ghost bike appears and their details appear on the website
Georgian Dublin
The charges for hiring the Dublin bikes.
I just came across this click here and I found that Dublin corporation had removed a ghost bicycle under the abandoned bicycle scheme..It a kinda defeats the purpose.
Fire safety is something that you never take a chance with, smoke detectors fire alarms sprinkler systems and fire hoses you would think would be a priority. Never take it for granted my friend. If you see escape routes blocked and short comings leave and make a phone call the next day.
That insulation that they insulate buildings with I would have assumed would have fire retardant built in, after all the plastic substance for the insulation gives off a really toxic smoke.
So a block of apartments goes up in London and it goes up in flames like a match.
Say a prayer for the dead and the bereaved.
Everyone lost all their possessions.
Say a prayer for them all.
In the rest of the world we had Blooms day from the book Ulysses written by James Joyce.
A great day to be free with a straw hat.
A girl jumped into my taxi today and at journeys end she told me that this taxi ride was the best one she had ever had.
She has been in Ireland for more than 10 years.
From Latvia she arrived here like so many, her heart full of hope and her dreams to become reality.
You know what ?
I think she is getting there.

Just a thought for a great girl far from home
Just one word from father Ted
This is a drill bit for sinking Piles for building tall buildings
Some journeys begin and end with a destination, other journeys last for years with repeated contact.
She told me that she was between jobs and that she was here illegally and that her brother and sister had demanded that she send them €1,000 for Christmas.
I nearly clipped another car as I was so distracted with anger.
She gave me some flyers as she was getting out and I asked another Phillipina girl that I know to help her.
Just last week I remembered her when I found her flyer in the car and I rang her.
My friend as it turned out was a friend of hers as well and she had supported her through that bad time.
Now she is in a good place and her ( Who was my friend as well) friend rang me to explain what was happening.
Europe,America and all foreign destinations become a Shangrila for the fortune hunters.
You just have to pluck money from the trees, as easy as that.
My girl told me that she asked them to send her for €500 as she had no job!!!
This shut them up quick.
Both these girls are wonderful warm gentle people.
They are sacrificing their youth to help the folks back home.
The girl that I helped rang me back later.
"John are you OK yourself ?
Why did you ring me out of the blue like that?"
So she was clued in as to the unusual nature of the phone call.
A really bright caring girl.
Now here is a con of huge proportions

Exam time
A Barrell organ in Holland
A Lion at Clontarf Castle
Smithfield
Today the state exams begin for our pupils, Ie Bac. in France and GCSEs in Britain.
Keep your cool kids,if you are relaxed the information will come to you more easily.
But exams are a bad way of measuring peoples ability.
If you fail at exams it doesn't show that you are not a quick thinking intelligent person with great potential.
This may not be your year or your subject.
Hang in there, start your own business. Become a millionaire.
A guy called Guy Martin in the UK was told by his teacher that he was stupid and that he never would amount to much.
The teachers name was J.D.Weatherspoon.
Every pub Mr Martin opens bears that teachers name and his sales are in the millions.
In the taxi business things are lifting a bit, a little bit more work.
I have my formula to follow so I have no complaints.
I asked that you say a prayer to your various Gods for Timothy Harte aged 11 who was going for a bone marrow transplant.
He had Leukemia the poor kid.
The Great news is that the transplant worked and all the new blood cells are now from the donor marrow.
Thanks for all the prayers , we all wish him a wonderful summer.
Your health is something we take for granted until it goes wrong.
Kids are great but tricky, my wife's spare key went missing so she has no key of her own.
She went to visit the grandchildren in Northern Ireland last week and I got a phone call that she couldn't open the door of the car. What should she do?
I talked her through what the problem might be to no avail.
So I drove up (Return trip 420 Kms)
I opened the car with the valet key, everything was dead.
A battery charger was connected, after an hour. Still nothing.
A jump start was required, but as the cars were at an aqard angle 2 sets of jump leads were needed.
With a flash she sperung into life.
So I drove her car home.
On the way home as it got darker I noticed that all the internal lights had been turned on.
Lucy my granddaughter had turned them on.
But in my car when you lock the car all the lights turn off.
So as they say in China "Shit happens"
Manx radio comes in on my car radio and all this week the TT races are broadcast
Sadly as I came home tonight on the radio they reported the death of an Irish rider from Co.Meath.
mad men for sure
One millimeter wrong and you are gone at 180 mph.
